About

The founder of Amaz­ing Ger­many Trav­el, Dr. Manuel Bech­er, has devot­ed almost his entire pro­fes­sion­al life to tourism.

He gained his first pro­fes­sion­al expe­ri­ence in the indus­try in trav­el agen­cies in Bayreuth and Hous­ton / Texas as well as at the Aldiana Side Resort in Turkey before he even start­ed to study.

He grad­u­at­ed from the Uni­ver­si­ty of Tri­er, where he majored in busi­ness admin­is­tra­tion with a focus on Strate­gic Man­age­ment and Mar­ket­ing, and spent two semes­ters at the North­west­ern State Uni­ver­si­ty of Louisiana (focus on Hos­pi­tal­i­ty Man­age­ment & Tourism).

In his Ph.D. the­sis at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Bayreuth, Dr. Bech­er devel­oped a con­trol­ling con­cept for DMOs. A research stay took him to the Haskayne School of Busi­ness at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Cal­gary. 

After work­ing for three years as a project man­ag­er at Hom­burg & Part­ner (now Accen­ture), Dr. Bech­er took over the posi­tion of man­ag­ing direc­tor of Bayreuth Mar­ket­ing & Touris­mus GmbH in 2009, a posi­tion he still holds today.

As part of the mar­ket­ing of his home­town, he has focused from the out­set on involve­ment in supra-region­al mar­ket­ing insti­tu­tions and the for­ma­tion of net­works.

Bech­er is cur­rent­ly deputy chair­man of the UNESCO World Her­itage Sites Ger­many e.V. and a board mem­ber and advi­so­ry board mem­ber of the Ger­man Cities and Cul­ture Forum, the Cas­tle Road e.V., the Fichtel­ge­birge Tourism Office and the Euro­pean Met­ro­pol­i­tan Region of Nurem­berg. 

In his pri­vate life, the fam­i­ly man is active in the Rotary Club of Bayreuth and has been play­ing bas­ket­ball for over 40 years and golf.
