DAY 2 — HEIDELBERG CASTLE & THE NECKAR

A Castle Above the River
Begin the day with Heidelberg Castle, dramatically perched above the Neckar Valley. Its romantic ruins, Renaissance architecture and panoramic views make it one of Germany’s most memorable castles.
Take the funicular up to the castle and explore the Great Terrace, castle courtyard and famous Heidelberg Tun — one of the world’s largest historic wine barrels.
Afterwards, enjoy a leisurely lunch before exploring Heidelberg’s Old Town at your own pace.
Optional experience: Private Heidelberg walking tour or a leisurely Neckar river cruise.

Signature moment: Sunset from the castle terrace overlooking the Old Town and Neckar Valley.
DAY 3 — HOHENZOLLERN CASTLE · METZINGEN · KÜNZELSAU
From Royal Castle to Designer Shopping
Today is one of the highlights of the journey.
Leave Heidelberg behind and travel south through the countryside to Hohenzollern Castle, spectacularly situated on Mount Hohenzollern. The castle was rebuilt in the 19th century as the ancestral seat of the Prussian royal family and remains one of Germany’s most impressive castle silhouettes.

After your castle visit, continue to Metzingen, Germany’s premier luxury outlet destination.
Luxury Shopping in Metzingen
Spend the afternoon browsing designer outlets and European luxury brands. Metzingen is particularly famous for its connection with Hugo Boss and offers an attractive combination of shopping and relaxed Swabian hospitality.

Continue to Künzelsau, where the elegant Hotel Anne-Sophie provides a very distinctive overnight experience.

Overnight: Hotel Anne-Sophie, Künzelsau
Travel: Heidelberg → Hohenzollern → Metzingen → Künzelsau
DAY 4 — ROTHENBURG OB DER TAUBER
Step Into a Medieval Fairytale
After breakfast, drive through the picturesque landscape of northern Baden-Württemberg toward Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
Rothenburg is perhaps Germany’s most enchanting medieval town, with its preserved walls, towers, half-timbered houses and cobbled streets.
Take time to walk along the medieval city walls, explore the market square and discover the famous Plönlein, one of Germany’s most photographed town scenes.
For dinner, choose a traditional Franconian restaurant and experience regional cuisine in a historic setting.

Overnight: Rothenburg ob der Tauber
Signature experience: An evening walk after the day visitors have departed — when Rothenburg becomes particularly atmospheric.
DAY 5 — ROTHENBURG → BAYREUTH
Romantic Germany Meets Royal Bavaria
Continue east toward Bayreuth, the elegant former residence of the Margraves of Brandenburg-Bayreuth.
On arrival, explore the historic city center and discover the world of Margravine Wilhelmine, one of the most fascinating royal personalities of 18th-century Germany.
The city’s architectural highlight is the Margravial Opera House, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Europe’s finest surviving Baroque theatres.
Bayreuth also offers an excellent culinary scene — from sophisticated restaurants to traditional Franconian beer gardens.
Overnight: Bayreuth
Travel: Rothenburg → Bayreuth · approx. 2 hours
DAY 6 — BAYREUTH & THE HERMITAGE

Royal Gardens & the World of Wagner
Today is dedicated to Bayreuth.
Visit the magnificent Eremitage, an extraordinary ensemble of palaces, gardens, fountains and grottoes created for the Bayreuth court.
The Old Palace, New Palace and famous Sun Temple create an atmosphere that is distinctly different from the grand royal residences of southern Germany.
Return to Bayreuth for an afternoon at leisure.
For culture lovers, the city also offers the world of Richard Wagner and the legendary Bayreuth Festival Theatre. For those seeking a more relaxed experience, enjoy a long lunch, explore the boutiques or spend the afternoon in one of Bayreuth’s traditional beer gardens.
Overnight: Bayreuth
Optional: Private guided tour of Bayreuth’s royal heritage and Wagner sites.
DAY 7 — EISENACH & WARTBURG CASTLE
Luther, Wagner & a Castle in the Forest
Leave Bavaria behind and travel north to Eisenach, dramatically situated beneath the wooded hills of Thuringia.
Above the city stands Wartburg Castle, one of Germany’s great historic landmarks.

The castle is closely associated with Martin Luther, who sought refuge here in 1521–22 and translated the New Testament into German. It also occupies an important place in German literary and musical history, including the legends surrounding Richard Wagner’s Tannhäuser.
Explore the castle complex and enjoy the spectacular views over the Thuringian Forest.
Continue to Frankfurt in the afternoon or evening.
Overnight: Frankfurt
